  • General Chemistry Laboratory

UNIGRANRIO has four Chemistry Laboratories, three of which hold practical classes and one is used for research projects. The laboratories are prepared to meet the various demands of the Chemistry area. The staff and faculty members include technicians in chemistry and interns (Degree and Bachelor in Chemistry), to assist professors and master students in their activities. The Chemical Analysis laboratory has an air-conditioned space with two infrared spectrophotometers, a UV/vis spectrophotometer and an Atomic Absorption spectrophotometer.

The laboratories follow biosafety parameters, and are supervised by a Biosafety committee meeting standard operating procedures (POP's). It is also responsible for preparing, indicating, proposing and evaluating the application of the biosafety parameters of the local clinics, polyclinics, laboratories and others facilities used by UNIGRANRIO Schools and Institutes.

  • Human Genetics Laboratory (LabGen)

Since May 2012, UNIGRANRIO operates the Human Genetics Laboratory (LabGen). This is an unprecedented laboratory in private institutions in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It aims at providing quality of life for the population of the Baixada Fluminense and the state of RJ, to support doctors, clinics, laboratories and hospitals. The service provided by the laboratory consists of carrying out molecular diagnosis of diseases conditioned by genetic factors (such as neuromuscular degenerative diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, etc.), and the study of genes associated with infectious and parasitic diseases. The students of the Master's Program in Science Teaching may utilize this space to develop their research and product development projects related to genetics, which is so current and lacks practical experiences in classrooms for Basic Education.

  • Physics Laboratory

UNIGRANRIO holds two Physics laboratories on Campus I, in Duque de Caxias. They comply with the most diverse studies of Physics, including experiments. Both laboratories have the necessary infrastructure to carry out about 100 different types of practices, namely Mechanics, Materials Technology, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, Advanced Optics and Hydrostatics. The practices are possible, thanks to kits purchased from CIDEPE (Industrial Center for Teaching and Research Equipment), a reference company in educational instruments in Brazil.

  • Didactic Herbarium

A didactic herbarium, unique to the Baixada Fluminense, and a collection of specimens for use in practical classes (Carlos Chagas Filho de Amparo Research Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro - FAPERJ) are available to students.

  • Laboratory of Science Teaching and Mathematical Education

At the Science Teaching and Mathematical Education Laboratory, master's students carry out didactic experiments, interact through workshops, develop educational products linked to their master's dissertations, carry out conjoint projects and share practical knowledge.

  • Laboratory of Entrepreneurship and Digital Education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) - LABSTEM

According to the European Round Table (ERT) the low number of students choosing STEM careers represents a challenge for the selection of human resources in most European countries. The expected changes in the economy and in the job market over the next ten years will affect the demand for STEM professionals, which will grow largely compared to professionals in other sectors. This picture is not far from the Brazilian reality. Thus, actions aimed at STEM Education are of great importance for the country's economic, industrial and scientific development policy.

PPGEC, and its faculty, was granted with funding support of FAPERJ (Research Support Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro; Brazil) of R$ 214,000.00 in 2017 to create a space for the development of Technological and Educational Innovations in different areas of knowledge. Bringing together projects and interests, PPGEC implemented an integrating space for the STEM areas, with undergraduate students from Engineering, Mathematics, Architecture, Computer Science and other UNIGRANRIO undergraduate courses for the development and broadening of skills, promotion of vocations, creative, educational, innovative and entrepreneurial actions in the STEM areas.

  • Computer Graphics Laboratory

The computer graphics laboratory is equipped with advanced configuration equipment for the production of teaching materials, analysis of research data and the elaboration of extension and educational products, all using digital technology.

  • TV Laboratory

The university has a wide structure for supporting, producing and finalizing audiovisual products for TV, Cinema and Internet. The infrastructure consists of a TV studio, equipped with a digital HDV camera, a non-linear digital editing island, a projection room, lighting and sound kits. It is of great importance for the formatting of educational products such as educational videos, video classes and podcasts.

Euclides da Cunha Library

UNIGRANRIO is the largest educational institution in the Baixada Fluminense region (Metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro), with students coming from different municipalities. Therefore, due to the educational, scientific and social relevance of the University in the region, the Euclides da Cunha Library, located on the Program Campus, is one of the largest libraries in the Baixada Fluminense.

Currently, the Library's collection corresponds to 57,719 titles, of which 138,417 are copies. In the library's existing laboratory, 28 (twenty-eight) computers with access to the UP TO DATE system are available to the public. The space has the following human resources: 2 librarians, 1 assistant, 5 assistants and two young apprentices.

Inaugurated in 1972, the Library is open from Monday to Saturday. It has a Library Coordination Center (NCB), composed of 10 individual libraries, a Document Conservation and Restoration Unit (UCORE) and a Computer Laboratory. It occupies 2,000 m2, encompassing the reception, a collection hall, reading rooms, group study rooms, individual study booths and hall for exhibitions and events.

The Library has access to the Theses and Dissertations Base (BDTD), allowing data sharing with the Brazilian Library of Theses and Dissertations and with the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (international database). Finally, there is access to the SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) database, which covers a selected collection of Brazilian scientific journals.
