Laboratories

• Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory in Odontology (LAMP)

The LAMP was created to support studies in cellular and molecular biology. The LAMP has equipment required to perform the researches such as: laminar flow cabinet; CO2 incubator; water-bath; microcentrifuge; electrophoresis vat; analytic balance; pH meter; Magnetic stirrer and vortex; Freezer and refrigerator; micro-waves; Thermal cycling; spectrophotometer and material to realize cellular culture as well as equipment to molecular tests (PCR, Western-Blot, ELISA). The laboratory has focused on graduate students besides the post-graduate students of the university and from other research nationals institutions.

• Laboratory of Clinical Pathology (LABORAFE)

The laboratory of clinical pathology includes sections of clinical biochemistry, hematology, immunohematology, immunology, endocrinology, microbiology, bacteriology, mycology, and parasitology. The main equipment including in the laboratory are: Dimendion AR (90.000 test per month); Cell-Dyn (21.000 test per month); Immulite to hormone, immunology, allergy, hepatitis, and tumors markers dosage; Coagutimer II for partial thromboplastin time and prothrombin time; densitometer to glycosylated hemoglobin, hemoglobin, proteins, and lipoproteins (5.000 test per month); photometer's flame; DA device for dilution (6.000 test per month); MCV II ELISA lector; homogenizer (36 samples); binocular microscope; microcentrifuge; Electra Laborline (36 tubes); water-bath; Thermalblock; deionizer; incubator; Ceucotrion – P, refrigerator and freezer.

• Post-graduation dental clinic

It comprises 12 equipment for dental clinical care among dentistry's specialties, sterilization center, and laboratory.

• Stomatology and Oral Diagnosis Clinic.

The present clinic is integrated into the health science school of UNIGRANRIO where graduate and post-graduate professors develop health activities and research in odontology and medicine. Since its creation, the clinic offers clinical investigations of systemic disease in order to connect its manifestations in the oral cavity being a reference to dentists and physicians of Rio de Janeiro's metropolitan region. In the clinic, it is possible to perform elective surgeries as biopsies, prescriptions, and treatments of tissue growth, odontogenic cysts and tumors, pre-malignance lesions and minor salivary glands. The Stomatology and Oral Diagnosis also has digital radiology and a histopathology laboratory.

• Duque de Caxias Policlinic (PDC-Saúde)

The policlinic offers to the Duque de Caxias population and other cities of metropolitan regions of Rio de Janeiro medical appointment in medical clinic, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology. Human genic, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Geriatrics, pediatric and child-care, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, and urology. Besides, the policlinic offers a modern medical integrated center with a clinical pathology center, imaginology center, a high-resolution computed tomography device, mammography, digital radiology device, ultrasonography, echocardiogram with Doppler, Vascular ultrasonography with scan, electrocardiography, and ergometric test to evaluate the cardiorespiratory function. Besides the infrastructure available, the policlinic has the required conditions to attend National health board and the Ethics national board in research (CONEP), which standardizes phase 1 in clinical assays.

Euclides da Cunha Library  

The library is localized at Campus I of UNIGRANRIO University in Duque de Caxias – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Due to the institution's performance in education, science and social role as well as the number of students from different cities around the metropolitan region, the Euclides da Cunha library is one of the biggest in the Baixada Fluminense region.
Nowadays, the library has a collection corresponding to 57.719 titles and 138.417 copies. Besides, the users have 28 computers available with the "UP TO DATE" access, 2 librarian, 1 librarian assistance, 5 auxiliaries and 2 young apprentices.

The library was opened in 1972, working from Monday to Saturday and have 2000 m2 of occupation distributed in reception, collection room, lectures room, study group room, individual cabins, and an exposition hall. It counts with a Coordination library core (NBC) with 10 libraries, Conservation and restauration of documents unity (UCORE), and a computing laboratory.

The library approaches the Theses and Dissertation database allowing the data's sharing with the Brazilian theses and dissertation library and with Networked digital library of theses and dissertation. It is possible to approach the SCIELO (Scientific electronic library online), which provides the Brazilian journals data. Besides, UNIGRANRIO University has a franchised access to the Scopus and Science Direct by the CAPES portal, which allows the biology and health science journals selection.

The CAPES portal is fully available to the professors, students, and researchers of UNIGRANRIO, offering complete national and international manuscripts. Besides, it is possible to access the UP TO DATE system. A database used by health professionals provides review articles developed by renowned authors to update these professionals fast and effectively.

Besides the library collection, the users have WI-FI access to scientific database as:

• Portal CAPES: The postal CAPES is fully allowed to the professors, researchers, and students of UNIGRANRIO offering complete manuscripts of international and national journals. The professors and students of UNIGRANRIO's post-graduation program have remote access to the portal CAPES.
• Minha Biblioteca: It is a virtual platform formed by 26 publishers of national academic books: Autêntica, Cengage, Cortez, Grupo A ( Artes médicas, Artmed, Bookman, McGraw-Hill, AMGH, Penso e Tekne), Grupo GEN ( AC Farmacêutica, Atlas, E.P.U, Forense, Forense Universitária, Guanabaran Koogan, LAB, LTC, Método, Roca, Santos), Loyola, Manole, Saraiva (Atual and Érica) and Zahar. Together, these publishers offer superior educational institutions access to technical and scientific content by internet by the "computing cloud". The students can be accessible to more than 9 thousand academic titles in different areas. Besides, Minhe Biblioteca allows the printing of 15% of the scientific works consulted.
• Virtual Library Pearson: this device allows 7.608 titles in its online catalog from 36 different publishers, with full texts, offering a search resources, notes and prints upon payment. Among the publishers it is include: Ágora, Aleph, Atheneu, Ática, Autêntica, Blossom, Blucher, Brasport, Callis, Casa do Psicólogo, Companhia das Letras, Contexto, Difusão Editora, EdiPUCRS, EDUCS, Editora Eureka, Freitas Bastos, GLS, Grupo Summus, Interciência, Intersaberes, Jaypee, Labrador, Lexikon, Manole, Mescla, MG Editores, Oficina dos Textos, Papirus, Pearson, Plexus, Rideel, Scipione, Selo Negro Edições, Vozes, Yendis.
• EBSCO: This database includes sub-bases of different areas of knowledge with many scientific journals.
• SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online): Electronic library, including Brazilian scientific journals, developed to answer the requirements of the scientific community in developing countries, mainly in Latin América as well as Carib. This scientific tool allows a suitable solution in order to secure visibility and universal access to scientific literature.
• - Theses and Dissertations Database (BDTD): The UNIGRANRIO's Database of theses and dissertations, it is included in the Brazilian Consortium of Thesis and Dissertations by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology with the support of FINEP. The aim of this device is to register as well as disseminate the final files of the theses and dissertations using the "TEDE 2" software from post-graduate programs of Public and Private Universities. With this, it is possible to share the UNIGRANRIO's data with the Brazilian library of theses and dissertations besides with the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations.

The libraries' systems offer access to its users with special necessities to different information sources as ramp access and a sign language interpreter to hearing deficient persons.
